tea towel extravaganza

I'm fairly confident that all of my swap partners have by now received their tea towels (even Miss America), so as promised, here's a little tea towel extravaganza to show you the 5 tea towels which I made - each one lovingly made for each of my 5 swap partners... no two alike.

I will also share pics of the tea towels I received from my lovely swap partners... when I receive them all!  I'm eagerly waiting on the last two tea towels to arrive.  When they do, I'll post pics of all 5.

P.S. tutorial to come!!

who me? really? awh shucks!

The lovely Sara of In the Light of the Sun has passed on the Kreativ Blogger award baton to me.  Really?  Me?  Ok then!

If you're not familiar with this award, it entitles the receiving blogger to share 7 things about themselves that others might not know, nominate other bloggers and thank the person who nominated you.  So here goes...

#1 - I lived in Greece with my mum for 8 months when I was 4 years old.

#2 - My brother was born one week after we arrived in Australia... to no family other than my mum's cousin... without being able to speak a word of English.  My poor but very brave mum!

#3 - I hate confrontation.  It makes me sick to my tummy.

#4 - Sometimes I convince myself that I would do great as a TV presenter.    Then I remind myself that I have a fear or public speaking.

#5 - I have to force myself to part with many of the things I make/sew.  Otherwise I would just be adding to my great passion for hording the "things I like".  I'd be like the crazy cat lady off The Simpsons, only without the cats.

#6 - I haven't been to Uni... I didn't even finish high school.  My career hasn't suffered because of it (I'm a marketing manager).

#7 - I love watching horror, thriller and suspense movies, but I'm scared of spiders.

And now I'd like to pass the Kreative Blogger Award baton onto... drum roll please...
Craft Schmaft, Ann Wood, Just Something I Made, mmmcrafts and Dana Made It... let's hear what you have to say then.

busy, busy

The last week has totally and completely run me into the ground.  I had a stall at Mathilda's Market today so for the last week (since finding out I was lucky enough to be offered a spot), I've been working like a peasant to get my merchandise ready for what I knew was going to be a really great market for me.

I have to say, I loved every minute of it.  I got some invaluable feedback from customers, met some lovely people, sold half my stock and received wholesale and custom order enquiries.    Very happy to report that my first Mathilda's Market was a success and I couldn't be happier.

But here's what else I've been up to over the last week... in photos...
the vintage kerosene heater I picked up for $10 at Fitzroy Market

received some fabric via mister postman (care of etsy).  can't wait to make lots of cute things with my new fabulous selection of printed linen and cottons

finished and posted my tea towels for Sooz's tea towel swap (I'll post photos of all the tea towels I made once all recipients have received them, plus a tutorial on how to make some yourself)

plus lots more stuff I didn't take photos of because I didn't have time or forgot.  Not sure which one... maybe both.

one down and two to go

I sold at my very first market on Saturday and I have to say I did ok.  For a market that's mostly full of second-hand and preloved wares, my handmade goodies did well.

I have committed myself to selling at three different markets before I decide whether markets are for me or not.

Two days before my first market I was stressing as I thought I wouldn't have enough stock and that my stall would look a little bare, however it looked great on the day.

Two days before, I also received a call from Mathilda's Market saying that I'd been selected for their 'Fabulous Finds' program and that if I were interested they had a spot for me next Sunday at Hawthorn Town Hall.

How could I say no?
How would I make enough stock in time?
Would I have enough time to get everything prepared?
Is my stuff really good enough for Mathilda's?
What have I gotten myself into?

so, I've committed myself to market #2 - Mathilda's Market
